Have Lump On Supraclavicular Area. Diagnosed As Lipoma. Could It Be A Lymph Node?
Hello- I saw my GP today for a lump in my left supraclavicular area. It is about 5 cm, pretty firm and moveable. The location is in the middle of the clavicular area just above the collar bone. It is not painful . He said it is a lipoma and decided to do some blood work. What is the likelyhood this is a lipoma or that it may be a lymph node?
Hi thanks for your question.
The swellings in supra clavicular region are usually lymph nodes, but lipoma is also a possibility. The best way to differentiate between the two is to go for FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology) of the swelling.
Hope this answers your question.
Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
Well, without a clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of the lump. Possibilities that may need to be considered include enlarged lymph node, lipomas, cysts, growths from underlying connective tissue etc.
I would suggest getting this evaluated by physician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. You may get FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology) of lump under his/her guidance
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
