General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi ! Yes it could be due to a stone in the kidney. The pain of kidney stone may be a dull aching to excruciating one if it blocks the flow of urine. Ultrasound is the best modality of diagnosis for kidney stones. Try to take enough liquids in your diet. You should discuss with your treating doctor and go for an ultrasound abdomen including kedney, ureter, and bladder with prostate to arrive at the diagnosis. If excluded, then you may consider about back pain and consult an orthopedic surgeon for an opinion and management. Take care and good luck.

Dentist Dr. Prachi Mishra's  Response
hello
happy to see your concern
friend since you are not providing full information in your query so i am not able to answer you appropriately.. but if a patient with similar complaint comes to my clinic i ask him or her about the type of pain... i mean the pain that occurs due to kidney stones is of a specific type and it does not occur exactly in your back but someway in middle if your front and back ofcourse near about kidney... the kidney stone pain is very severe and seems as if someone is tightening your kidneys and also it not of continuous type it is like tightening and relieving and again tightening and then relieving.... also the patient finds pain while passing urine....for proper diagnosis one should visit the general practitioner and ask him to take one ultrasound to confirm the presence of stones...
what you can do in the meanwhile is start taking plenty of water like 2-3 litres a day to help your kidney to function well with less efforts....
i will be waiting for your follow up...

Ophthalmologist Dr. Khushbu Bhattad's  Response
hello,
kidney stone pain(colic) is commonly felt in the flank (the area between the ribs and hip), lower abdomen, and groin. it is never on the kidneys. it last for 30-60 sharp intolerable pain associated with nausea, vomiting, fever, blood in the urine, pus in the urine, and painful urination. Renal colic typically comes in waves lasting 20 to 60 minutes, beginning in the flank or lower back and often radiating to the groin or genitals.
along with pain do you have any problem in urination like burning, pain, frequency etc.
if you are suspecting stones you can undergone usg abdomen to confirm diagnosis. back pain rarely occurs while sleeping
i recommend you to consult physician , if required do usg abdomen
take care and you can ask further queries
