Have Painful Blisters On Back Above Buttocks. Is This Shingles Or Herpes?
I have had herpes/ shingles , I say this because no one has ever done a blood test to confirm. It has always been at the bottom on my spine and top of buttocks in a crescent shape. There have never been blisters pain or burning in the vaginal area, have had this for over 30 years. Today I have blisters up higher not on buttocks but on my back, with intense pain, is this shingles or herpes?
hi..thanks for the query
Herpes Zoster is an acute thing..The lesions that you have had for long should not be herpes zoster. After a single episode , recurrence is also uncommon.
However , there is a high chance that the new lesions now you are having are of Herpes zoster.Medicine consists of anti viral drugs like Acyclovir and anti inflammatory oral tablets.Ideally medications are started before the appearance of blisters.I would suggest you to visit a Dermatologist at the earliest to start medications. With medications , you can prevent post herpetic neuralgia which tends to be bothersome in many.
Hope this is useful...Take care.
