Have Painful Lump Under Left Rib Cage. What Could This Be?
I have been having sharp pains under my left rib cage and it feels like its just under the surface of my rib cage at the very bottom. I just tried to feel there and I found a small lump that hurts when I push on it. this pain has been going on for a few weeks now it is seems like the pains are getting a little worse. What is this? Should I see a doctor?
Thanks for your Query. You have lump (mass) in left upper side of abdomen ie. left hypochondriac region. It may be Intra Abdominal or from abdominal wall. The main intraabdominal to get enlarge in left upper abdomen is most probably spleen. If it is in abdominal wall it may be a Lipoma. If your lump is in spleen ( Splenomegaly) you must need immediate treatment and you have to undergo some other investigations like blood test, ultrasound abdomen. If necessary u may have to do CT or MRI abdomen to confirm the diagnosis. First of all you have to consult with both general physician and surgeon.
Take care
