Have Sore Throat, Hurts To Swallow, Getting Mucus. What Is The Cure?
I have had a sore throat for close to a month now. My throat no longer hurts but on the right and left side hurts. It switches sides sometimes it the left other times its the right. I went to an ent and he told me to take allergy medicine for 2 weeks. I have not seen much improvement. And it hurts to swallow and I am still getting a lot of muscus stuff from my throat.
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
With the available described symptoms, there appears to be possibility of acute upper respiratory tract infection with high chances of involvement of tonsils.
Presence of sore throat, difficulty in swallowing and mucus discharge suggests the diagnosis.
You should consult with internal medicine specialist and should go for thorough check up.
You should go for complete blood count, erythrocyte sedimentation rate.
You should also go for throat swab culture and sensitivity.
You should take complete antibiotic course, mucolytics, decongestants.
Perform gargle three times in a day; a glass of lukewarm water with a pinch of salt.
Avoid cold drinks, oily food and yogurt.
Take care,
Dr. Mayank Bhargava
