Have Sprain In Ligaments Of Left Ankle. Have Wrap And Boot On. Can I Take Off The Boot?

Hi, according to my doctor I have a severe sprain in two ligaments on my left ankle. He put a white wet wrap on my ankle then an dry wrap on top of that. Then a walking boot over the wrap. The dr. said that the wrap is not to be removed at all until my appointment next week. But he did not mention if the boot could be removed. Now that it is bedtime I realized I did not think to ask if I should be sleeping in the boot or taking it off for bed. What should I do?

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The sprain is a soft tissue injury and it needs a proper rest with the help of brace or boots for proper healing to take place. If the pain is not very severe and the swelling is controlled then you can take off the boot intermittently.
