Have Stents Fitted, Low Cholesterol. Prescribed Omacor. Reduce Mt Atorvastatin?
Hi. I have three stents fitted seven years ago. I have been prescribed Omacor two years ago by the hospital,, now my doctors want to stop it. Is this for financial reasons or medical? Also they want to reduce mt atorvastatin to 20mg from 80mg, is this wise? My chorestrol count is just under 5. Regards, David Etchells.
The dose of atorvastatin is adjusted according to the target LDL (or non-HDL) cholesterol level.
In people with Coronary Artery Disease, the aim is to bring down the LDL to 70 mg or less...in which case, the statin dose may safely be reduced.
Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
