Have Widal Test Result. Can Any Online Doctor Help?

Hi doctor, yesterday i performed a widal test i got the result as, 0:less than 1:20 dilutions H:less than 1:20 dilutions AH:less than 1:20 dilutionsya BH:POSITIVE UPTO 1:160 dilutions i am suffering from fever last two weeks and last month i got typhoid

Hi. Welcome to HCM. Widal test is an agglutination test for the detection of agglutinins (antibodies) for H and O antigen for salmonella in patients with enteric fever (typhoid). A single test of O titer of 1:100 or more and of H titer of 1:200 or more is significant. Also remember that a titre of atleast above 1:80 should be considered as significant. A rising titer of four fold or higher in an interval of 7 - 10 days is more meaningful than one test. Your test results are below the cutoff range. I think u have already consulted doctor and taking antibiotics. If yes then post antibiotics Widal Test will have Low titers of agglutinins.Hence the test may be reported as False Negative. Usually at the begining of second week widal will come positive. U are in third week now, so dont worry about widal report. You just follow your doctor advice and complete the antibiotic course with out fail. Wish u speedy recovery.
