The
prostate gland increases in size invariably in all males above 45 tears.
This enlargement increases as the age advances.
The PSA levels are done to estimate the degree of enlargement of the prostate.
PSA level upto 4 ng/dl is within normal limits.
PSA levels above 10 ng/dl is suggestive of benign
prostatic hyperplasia.
Cancer of prostate is associated with levels above 15 ng/dl.
In metastatic prostatic cancer, the levels are beyond 30 ng/dl.
In your fathers case there is increase in levels of PSA, however, the levels are less than 10 ng/dl.
At levels less than 10 ng/dl, there is nothing to worry.
You can continue the PSA levels at regular intervals.
