Having Frequent Migraine Headaches. See The Doctor?
Hi, I just found this site. I moved from the UK to Halifax Nova Scotia last aurtumn, and have been getting frequent migrane type headaches , which seem to coincide with the weather changes. I have had migrane headaches before, especially during the menopause (I m 61), but not with anything like the frequency I am getting now. Should I consult my GP? Regards, Lynne
Hi Lynne, thanks for asking. You have a good observation because change in the atmosphere pressure is one of the known triggers for the onset of migraineheadaches. Some people mention that they experience an episode of migraine whenever it rains. It is not dangerous, and it should be treated regularly with a medication like Propranolol, etc if the frequency of the headaches is more than 3 per month (at least in some seasons which you experience more headaches). If the frequency is less than 3 a month you may use just a medication like Sumatriptan at the time a headache is starting. I wish you have a good health.
