Having High BP And Increased Cretinine Level. Treatment And Prevention?

Hello Sir,
My mother is not keeping well. her BP reached to 210/100, treatment started since march but Blood Pressure is not under control AND her cretinine reched to 2.4 (upper limit is 1.2, as per my information), we had GFR test result and it shows 22.5 (boundries are 80-120, as per my information). initially one senior physician doctor tried to control the BP but again it has reached to 210/100 and he had suggested to drink water as much as you can so my mother has started driking more water in a day. now today we have consulted one nephrologist and he said she should not drink more water and he will start kidney treatment once the BP will be in control.
Please suggest.

Hello
Thanks for posting query
Blood pressure in this range is very high and require treatment on urgent basis. Your should be admitted in the hospital and gradually control the blood pressure. Kidney dysfunction may be cause of high blood pressure or may be result of persistent high blood pressure therefore one must get renal artery Doppler study to know patency of renal artery. Renal artery stenosis may result in high blood pressure and does not adequately respond to routine anti hypertensive drugs.

High blood pressure in the presence of kidney dysfunction usually require prazocin or clonidine tablets but I will suggest you get your mother hospitalized and completer work up should be which involve not only cardiovascular and renal system but eye examination to know effect of high blood pressure on eyes.

Regarding water intake it is advisable not to take lot of water if GFR is low and kindeys are not able to make enough uine due problem in kidney itself not becasue of dehydration. In your condition lot water intake is not advisable
Hope this information useful for you. Take Care
