Having Noticed Hair Loss With A Autistic Condition

Why would my 5-year-old son s hair follicles be black? His hair seems to be falling out and has lost its curl in the past 2 weeks. He has autism, and is on a gluten, casein, soy, dye and artificial preservative-free diet... but has had several diet infractions this month. Could the infractions have anything to do with his hair health?

I am not sure why he is on so many dietary restrictions. If it is because of his autism, there is no proof that all these restrictions work. I feel that the restricted diet is more likely to have affected his hair health rather than the infractions!
