Headache, High Temperature, Dizziness, Feeling Thirsty. History Of Irregular And Continuous Bleeding After Using Contraceptive Implant. Opinion?

Hello. I am a 22 year old female. 10 months ago I started using the contraceptive implant. It is great only bleeding is irregular. Currently the bleeding has lasted for a whole month. In the last 3 days I have been feeling unwell. On the first day I woke up in the morning with a headache. As the day went on I developed a high temperature (not sure of exact temp as I had no thermometer but I know it was high). Took paracetamol and rested and this just about got rid of the headache and lowered the temp. Day 2 I had a mild headache and felt a bit dizzy at times. I am feeling the same today as I was yesterday. I seem to be quite thirsty as well and at certain intervals during the day I will lose my appetite I can sometimes feel nauseous, though this only last for a short while during the day. Overall I have a good appetite and eat enough every day. Have you any idea what might be causing this? Appreciate any answers thanks

Hi Dear,
you are suffering from two unrelated problems.
Firstly, excessive bleeding due to implant which should be taken care of. In absence of any treatment you will become anemic and develop weakness. Consult your gynae as it can be managed with medicines. However, if no improvement, the implant has to be removed and you can go for other birth control measure.
Secondly, the fever which you are having may be seasonal and has to be investigated properly. Consult a physician and get investigated for all possible causes of fever including dengue, malaria and typhoid

Hello,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.

I had gone through your query and understand your concerns.
All the symptoms experienced by you are side effects of Contraceptive implants.

These are commonly encountered side effects of Contraceptive implant in day to day practice.
As you are bothered to much about the symptoms, I advice you to remove the implant and adopt some other contraceptive method.

You also have irregular and continuous bleeding after implant.
It is better to remove the implant.

If you remove the implant, you will become normal in a week or two.
so consult your gynaecologist regarding removal of implant.
And also discuss about other effective contraceptive method that suits you. I mean some people do not like to take daily pills. They used to have intra uterine implants or adopt barrier methods.

Hope this helps.f you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Regards,
Dr.Manjeth
