Hearing Loss Followed By Sound In Left Ear When Spoken Or When Any Other Sound Is Made. History Of Tinnitus In Left Ear. No Help From Cortison. Due For MRI. Guide

Hello, for years I have tinnitus and a little hearing loss on my left ear due to a firecracker. I could live with it until forteen days ago I got another hearing loss (again in the left ear), can hear my pulse in this ear AND everytime I make noises I get some sort of feedback "piing" (lower frequency then my tinnitus). I try not to speak because it gets worse when I speak or make noise. My doctor made hearing tests (left ear: bad, right ear: very good) cleaned my ears, took blood (OK), arranged a head MRI (OK) and now gave me cortison, SO far nothing really helped. I also have an appointment for an cardiologist to check my vessels - but I really don't think that this will cre the feedback sound which is extremely annoying for me.

Hi, it appears to be due to the otitis media, and now converted into chronic suppurative otitis media. I advise you to consult an ENT surgeon for diagnosis and treatment.
avoid the passage of water into the ear while taking bath. Avoid taking fruits, juices, ice cream, and water, to prevent allergy, and spread of infection. Thank you.

Pathologist and Microbiologist Dr. Shailja Puri's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM,

Tinnitus, hearing loss which worsens with change in frequency suggests that there is some disorder of the inner ear.
Inner ear is responsible for hearing and to maintain balance.
Any disease process of the inner ear - infection, inflammation, any trauma, etc.
Any change in the CSF pressure can also affect the inner ear as the ventricles and inner ear are connected to each other.
Tinnitus and hearing loss are seen in diseases of inner ear like meneire's disease, presbycus, otosclerosis, etc.
Consult your ENT specialist for clinical examination, relevant investigations and thus management.

Thanks and take care
