Hiatus Hernia, Severe Acidity, Loss Of Appetite, Frequent Urination, Nausea. Prescribed Sibofix, Velgut. Treatment?
Hello Doctor, My husband has been diagnosed with Hiatus Hernia . He is suffering from severe acidity problem which has reduced his food intake also.. The problem is frequent urination . He passes urine every half an hour and if he does not, then he feels nauseous. We consulted a gastroenterologist who prescribed him Sibofix 400, Velgut, Drotin DS, and Rekool-L. Can you advise if these will help in his problem?
The conditionwith which your husband is diagnosed is a chronic condition and depending upon the severity the management can vary from simple medication to surgery to cure the condition.
The problem in this condition is that the part of stomach is coming herniated into the diaphragm and because of this the oesophgeal spincture is not able to work properly and lead the gastric content coming into the oesphagus causing problem.
According to to medical management, medication which decreases the acidity is given to supresses the symptom, which is prescriped in the form of REkool-L to you and other medication likel Velgut is just supportive given good bacteria to you gi sysytem and Drotin DS is an antispasmodic causing decrease in spasm. The Sibofix is mainly used for pain and I am not clear why this has been prescribed to you for this condition, if you are not having any pain condition and apart from that it can also cause gastric problems.
Thanks and hope this will help you.
