Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 35 yrs old female. Have high bp but it s controlled by meds. I have had two episodes about two years apart, where my heart beats out of control for a few minutes. It s upwards of 200 beats per minute, but it s so fast it s hard to count. My chest is tight and I am short of breath and break out in a cold sweat. Both times it has occurred just after waking in the morning and I feel like I am on the verge of passing out. What is this??
You had 2 episodes of increased heart beats in last two years. Its called Tachycardia. Normal heart beat is 50-100 beats per minute. It is really impossible to count if the heart beats increases. So next time when you get this kind of feeling rush to near by hospital & get your ECG done during that episode so as to find out what is it due to .
You also need to meet cardiologist now to get your self investigated to find out the cause so that this episode doesnt get repeated again. There are many causes of tachycardia like thyroid disease, infection, electrolyte imbalance, high blood pressure.
wish you good health.
