High VLDL, Triglycerides, Cholesterol, Low HDL, Obese, Low Vitamin D. Diet?

i have high VLDL, Calculated it is 64 but it is normal 7-32; high Triglycerides it is 319 but it is normal 150; low HDL as % of cholesterol it is 12.7 but it is normal 32.0-100; my weight it is 179 but is normal down to 10; and low vitamin d it is 19% but it is normal 14% make a list of which food to eat and not to eat

Hi Jeffrey, welcome to HCM.

VLDL is Very Low Density Lipoprotein which when in high levels can lead to coronary heart diseases. High Triglyceride levels add to the risk factors towards heart diseases. Your weight is definitelyely high, You need to modify your lifestyle and work on weight loss along with a good diet. Kindly involve in brisk walking at least for 30-45 minutes everyday. Consume a minimum of 3-4 litres of water daily. With regards to diet, kindly avoid all refined foods such as plain breads, pasta, rice, noodles etc. Instead eat whole wheat breads, oats, wheat flakes etc for breakfast. Consume a lot of fruits and vegetables in the form of salads, juices, soups, baked vegetables, etc. The lipids in your blood tend to thicken the blood and will obstruct the blood flow slowly which will result in a stroke or a heart attack. Therefore its very important for you to lose weight which will reduce strain on your heart. Lots of water will dilute the blood and will help in easier flow. Avoid any fatty or fried foods, avoid junk foods, avoid egg yolks, cut down on red meat such as mutton, beef, pork etc. Also consult a physician so that you can judge ur health condition now and then begin with the workouts and diet.

Thank you for getting in touch with us. From what I see, your lipid profile isn't great. HDL which is good cholesterol and should be high is low while other forms of cholesterol which are bad are high. Do you suffer from any other disease along with this? You need to carefully choose what you eat and exercise on a regular basis. Try having more foods richs in omega-3 fatty acids. These include cold-water oily fish, like salmon, herring and tuna. Avoid saturated fat products, get good sleep, exercise on a regular basis and take your medicines regularly. Following all these steps would lead to a gradual improvement. Hope this helped

Based on the reports given it appears as though you have dyslipedemia secondary to obesity.
It is treatable with a variety of medication but lifestyle modification is also very important. I would like to suggest a few measures

1. Weight reduction.

2. Eating plenty of green leafy vegetables and fruits.

3. Avoid fried foodstuff and oily foods.

4.In consultation with a doctor do consider 'Statins' These medications can help in reducing your high VLDL and triglyceride levels but the ideal choice would depend on the type of dyslipedemia you have at present.

5. Quit smoking and alcohol consumption(If you are doing either of these).

6. Regular exercise.
