High Blood Sugar, Going Down After Losing Weight, Exercise. Options To Reduce Blood Sugar Without Medication?

My hemoglobin A1C is at 11 which suggest that my blood sugar average has been at around 283 for a while. It probably was actually higher for a while. It has been going down steadily as I have lost weight and exercised more; however, it is still averaging about 212 to 250. I do not want to be drug dependent, are there any options?

Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
You should understand that your blood sugar is high and in diabetic range including your HBA1c level.
In such cases there is no question of drug dependence.
Yes diet and exercise are part of treatment , I am glad that you are taking care of exercise and diet but such a high level of sugar you need to take medicines or insulin injections.
Please visit a Physician /Endocrinologist and take proper medicines like Metformin which in fact also reduces weight.
If you are very overweight BMI > 32-35 then bariatric surgery may be an option to reduce weight many patients improve their Diabetes after surgery.
Please start treatment as soon as possible, as there are many complications of diabetes which is uncontrolled.
You can continue diet and exercise with medical treatment.
Hope this helps and please take care of yourself.

Hello, thanks for the query to H.C. M. Forum.
Hb A I C 11 is very very high and you are a known case of diabetes.

Frankly I would say one thing that you have to take anti-diabetic drugs at any cost, irrespective of whether you would like it or not.
Only very hard regular exercises can reduce blood sugar level to a certain limit ,not more than this.
Diabetes occurs due to disorder in beta cells of pancreas.
Insulin is the regulator of blood sugar level ,hence when in body insulin ,not forms than one have to take it in injection form Type 1 diabetes.
Type 2 where glucose level increases and it is controlled by anti-diabetic drugs( which lowers blood sugar level).
So you are advised , hard exercises, tension free life , prevention of sugar and related compounds as sweets , candy, etc.
Be serious about the disease and control sugar at any cost.
Good luck
