High Cholesterol, SGOT, SGPT. Started Going To Gym, Lost Weight. Is The Increase In Levels Due To Exercise?
I have gone for a blood test as a formality for insurance, the reports depicts SGOT at 118 while SGPT at 43 further cholesterol at 148. I am worried and confused what to do now. Here i would like to add that i am going to gym since last 4 months and lost 5 kgs(from 85 kg to 78 kgkg, age 40yr,height 177 cm) further i follow strict diet plan. There are no ill symptoms. I am in perfect health. Whether this increase is due to exercise or there may be some other cause. Should i go for testing again. Confused pl. Suggest..
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. S G O T & S G P T ( A S T & A L T ) the normal range is 5-50 I U . If value is mote than 300 I U than specific . In your case s g o t is usually also found in skeletal muscle , hence may be due to excessive activities of skeletal muscle due to gym. Need not to worry at all . Cholesterol is also normal. Good luck. Dr. HET
