History Of TB. High SGPT And SGOT. What Is The Proper Diet?
I was under treatment for TB for last 9 months. My age is 67 years.TB has been cured completely and all anti TB medicines have been stopped by the doctor. However the SGPT and SGOT have increased from previous level of about 60 (5 months back) to 300/400(current test result).I was told that it would come down as TB medicine has been stopped. Kindly suggest proper diet for the present Regards
Good that the TB medications are stopped. As far as diet for such liver condition, do avoid fats like excess oil, butter, fried items as they tend to weaken the liver further making it difficult to digest it properly. Minimal fat is the best way. Simple complex sugars present in whole wheat breads and rice, pulses are fine. Avoid meat proteins for time being. Make sure you check your liver enzymes again after a week and see the tendency of falling down or rising up. In case, you see no change of the enzymes are going up and you develop symptoms, please see a gastroenterologist as soon as possible after that.
