History Of Diabetes, And Was On Intravenous Antibiotics For Cellulitis Below Knee Joint. Redness And Warmth In The Place Of Swelling. On Augumentin . More Medication Needed?
I am 45 year old diabetic and hospitalized for cellulitis on my left leg just below the knee joint. I was on intravenous antibiotics for 7 days (Piperacillin & tazobactam 4.5g, linezolid IV 2mg) and then no time, travelled to gulf for joining jobs. Now, I am taking Augumentin 1g twice daily. There was no swelling and my skin is peeling off but still there is some redness and warm where the swelling started first. Is it normal? or need more antibiotics?, Appreciate your reply. Thanks
Your are a Diabetic and assume the your blood sugars are under control and you are on regular medications.
As for as your cellulite you have taken 7 days of i.v antibiotics.
Swelling as come down. But there is redness and warmth. You have contained the infection. But the is some residual infection and inflammation left in the area. So continue the Oral antibiotic for another 2 week or until it completely subsides.
