History Of Epileptic Seizures. On Levroxa, Oleptin Od, Lacosam. Any Better Medication?

my son has been suffering from epileptic seizers since his birth i.e. more than twenty five years . he is under the treatment of an expert neurophysician and being administered three drugs namely levroxa500,oleptin od 600 & lacosam200 twice a day (eachof the three). At present, the fits are controlled but still occur at a frequency or so . Can there be a better drug (latest discovery) or better combination possible for him. Deepak

hi

welcome to health care magic

As per the information given ,your son had seizures since birth i.e., it is neonatal

onset seizures

Was an MRI BRAIN done for him?Was there any structural abnormality of brain?

The three drugs are not yet used in your son in full doses .

Levroxa (levetiracetam) can be increased upto 3g in divided doses

Oleptin (oxcarbamazepine) can be increased to 600mg twice daily

He has been already on a new advanced drug lacosam (lacosamide)

If the seizures do not subside still ,then lamotrigine can be tried.

BUT THE ESCALATION OF THE DOSE REQUIRES REGULAR FREQUENT FOLLOW

UP ..under medical supervision, watching for side effects.

Consult your neurophysician for increasing the dose if seizures persist.
