I have a history of strep throat; I get it about once or twice a year. I can usually tell when I am getting it because of the quality of the pain and a strange taste in my mouth. Amoxicillin usually does the trick, but occasionally I have had to step it up to Augmentin or even Levaquin . For about the past two or three days, I have had strep-like pain when swallowing , but *only* in my Adam s Apple, which is not the usual place I get the strep pain. But the quality of the pain is the same...my gut says that it is strep. Does strep ever present as pain solely in the Adam s Apple when swallowing? Also (and this may sound strange and/or be insignificant), when I push my finger straight into my Adam s Apple (i.e., perpendicular to the surface of my Adam s Apple), the applied pressure relieves the pain when I swallow. But when I release my finger, the pain is back. Thoughts? I am female, age 43, no other health problems.
