History Of Vaginal Bleeding. Biopsy Shows No Malignancy. Hormonal Imbalance. Seen Spotting. Could I Be Pregnant?

I'm 55 years old now. I had history of vaginal bleeding sometime in 2004. I submitted myself for pelvic exam and a sample biopsy tissue taken from endometrium. No result of malignancy.I was told that it was something like hormonal imbalance. So I was given oral treatment like Marvelon. Then my period was regulated. Then I was asked to stop taking the pill for sometime. Then again I had profused bleeding during menstruation. Again I was asked to resume oral treatment that was year 2007. So from this time I started taking Progyluton until last weekof April 2012. Then I had my first day of last menstruation May 2, 2012. I discontinued taking Progyluton per my Gyne doctor's advice. My period stopped as well since last May 2012. Then now I'm worried I have spotting started 2 days ago. I'm working here in Riyadh as OR nurse. I just came from holiday last May 24. Could it be because I had sex with my husband. I went to the clinic to see my doctor but he's on holiday. His nurse told me that it happens which means it'snormal. But if it will profused I'll go back to the clinic. I'm really worried now Doctor. Please help me what to do.

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The irregular bleeding that you are having is more likely to be due to a hormonal imbalance and less likely to be due to pregnancy. A serum HCG evaluation will help in confirmation.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
