Hit Hard On Buttock After Falling From Stairs. Severe Pain, Unable To Sit, Stand. Fracture Possible?

my sister n law fell down the stairs, although the stairs are carpeted, she was carrying her 2yr old at the time and fell more awkwardly, she hit with much force the left side of her buttocks, not the tailbone but the actual cheek on about 4 or 5 steps but especially hard at one point...so she says now that she feels like she literally "broke" her butt; so I am wondering is there anything n that area that she could've injured or broken? I asked her if she pulled or twisted and she said she just hit extremely hard...she cant sit, stand, or even touch the area and is n so much pain its taking her breath, can u help me with this

Hi,
From history it seems that she might have some fracture at hip joint like shaft of femur, greater trochenter or bone between ball of hip and greater trochanter.
Even there might be soft tissue or ligamental injury as well.
Go for x-ray and find out fracture if any.
Consult orthopedic surgeon and get examined.
Ok and take care.
