For a Dermatologist: What can be done for chronic acne that has not responded to Ziana, 4 months of SOLODYN 80 mg ER. 2% salacylic acid helps mildly, as do benzoil peroxide washes. I am female, 64 yrs old. Sebaceous matter is over produced and any break in the skins heals very slowly with weak crusty scabs that ooze if touched and fill up with gunk within hours. I use 1% tazorac nightly which helps some.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have acute acne which is because infection of sebaceous gland under the hair follicle , when sebum get accumulated in clogged duct of sebaceous gland along with dead skin and bacteria they produce acne.
