How Can Ankle Pain With Swelling And Bruising Be Treated?

I twisted my ankle about 2 weeks ago. It actually got caught on a step and twisted backwards. The pain was severe when it happened. Now I get severe pain when I point my toes but have no pain walking I have some swelling and brusing on the top outside of my foot/ankle What could be wrong?
