How Can Codeine Be Identified In Urine Analysis While Having Only Counter Pain Relievers Such As Motrin?
Hi I m in the military, active duty us army. Today my commander called me in his office and told me I popped hot on a urinalysis for codeine on jan. 6. I don t have any medicine with codeine in it but I do take some over the counter pain relievers such as motrin. How could I possibly have codeine in my system? And is there anything that would give false results for codeine?
Motrin contains the active ingredient Ibuprofen. This over-the-counter drug can cross-react with immunoassay tests and cause false positive results. I suggest to stop taking motrin or any other drug and repeat the testing in a week time.
You can report this to your commander too! Dr.Sejdini
