I am 23 years old. sex: female. I am having dry scaly patches on my face which started from a burst of tiny acne on y cheeks. They were itchy and red and now are becoming dry white patches. I have been going to the swimming pool once a week and the sun is very high here. I apply my daily sunscreen of FPS 20. My dermarologist prescribed surafaz, warimazol, eryfluid and tacroz. but the problem came back again.
Seems to be due to Ptyriasis alba which can be itchy and red(Irritated) but in most of the cases it is a dry scaly patch and is lighter in color than the surrounding skin.
Since the underlying cause is dryness of skin it is advisable to use a gentle cleanser like cetaphil twice daily.
Use a good Hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic moisturizer twice daily on the whole of face.
I also usually ask my patients to apply a moderately potent steroid like fluitcasone propionate OR non-steroidal immunomodulator like tacrolimus only over the dry scaly patches twice daily, over and above the moisturizer.
It is not a fungal infection therefore anti-fungal treatment is unnecessary
take care regards
