How Can Persistent Hives Be Treated?

I had hives before my appendix surgery and dr's thought it was the zantac I was taking. I had my surgery back in Dec and still breaking out in hives. I have not changed anything(soap,perfumes,etc), I am taking a food diary now and can't figure it out. What tests do I need to tell my dr to figure this out.
