How Can Tibial Plateau Fracture Not Be Detected In X-ray?
My initial x-ray was read in the ER and the Dr. said there was no fx...4 days later, due to pain and swelling I went to a orthropedic specialist and was diagnosed with Tibial Plateau FX, no weight bearing for 3 months....how could it not show up on the first x-ray? I showed the x-rays to the orthro specialist and he confirmed that it was clearly broke in the first set of x-rays.
Thanks for your question on HCM. X ray reporting is subjective thing and varies with person to person. And human error can occur in reporting any x ray weather it is chest x ray or x ray of any part for fracture. If orthopedic doctor is saying that there is fracture in 1st x ray and he made operation for this means there is clear cut fracture. The first radiologist who reported it ,might miss the fracture and reported no fracture. So it may be human error.
