How Dangerous Is Underdeveloped Stomach Of Baby During Pregnancy?
my daughter is 9-1.2 months pregnant, 2 centimeters dialated and her doctor stripped the membrane to the cervix yesterday. Today the "high risk ultra sound" indicates the baby's stomach is underdeveloped. How dangerous is this for the baby? The baby's weight is 6 lbs. 5 oz., however, my daughter is very tiny.
Hello, The observation of a small stomach also implies that observation has to made for other associated anomalies like brain stem defects, tracheo-esophageal fistula, polyhydramnios, esophageal atresia etc. Association of multiple defects and also the amount of the defect determines the prognosis. Overall, the outlook is not too good and you may take an opinion from a perinatologist. As for the mode of delivery, if there is disproportion, vaginal delivery may be allowed as far as the mother is concerned. if the fetus is ate risk, it would be better to go for abdominal delivery. Hope this helps.
