Hi and welcome,
It seems you had a delayed period. If the period was lighter than usual and lasted for a shorter time than the regular period, get a urine
pregnancy test done as this may be
implantation bleeding.
An
ultrasound done at the time of mid cycle spotting will not show any pregnancy as the baby is not formed enough to be seen on ultrasound.
If a polyp was seen and if you have bleeding or spotting and no pregnancy you will need a D and C or a
hysteroscopy to remove it and send it for examination under microscope.
If a polyp is there, pregnancy will be difficult until it is removed. Also an ovulation study must be done [ after removing the polyp] as polyps occur due to increased
estrogen which may cause
irregular periods and also stop ovulation.
So I suggest get a pregnancy test done if you suspect pregnancy. If not, get the polyp removed or take
progesterone to suppress it and an ovulation study after it is cured. Please discuss these issues with your doctor and formulate the best possible way out.
Please do not worry as polyps are common and can be removed easily.
Hope this satisfies your query.
Thanks for using HCM.
