Hi,

Surgery for bartholin gland''s complications like bartholin cyst or abscess depends on the severity of the symptoms and the frequency and duration of symptoms. In mild cases usually treatment with antibiotics and marsupialization are enough. If the problem recurs, you may need to undergo complete removal of the bartholin cyst.

During this procedure the wall of the Bartholin's cyst will be completely removed and the dead space will be sutured, so that the problem will not recur. Though this is an extensive surgery, usually it will not disturb the external appearance and also healing will be comparatively better. So, you can proceed with the instructions of your doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
