How Long Can Glycomet Be Taken Safely For Type 2 Diabetes?
sir. my wife is 62 years old. she is type-2 dibetic for the last 15 years.she is taking 16 units humanmixtard insulin along with glycomet sr 500 tab. in the morning and 12 units with glycomet sr500tab before dinner for the last 8 months .her readings are 105?175 fasting?2hrs.lunch .Kindly advise how long she can continue with this dose of glycomet sr500 safely. The thumb rule in diabetic therapy is to start with metformin that is glycomet and it has to be continued its only drug with weight loss as its effect blood sugar levels decreases as u decrease your weight and one of the side effect of metformin is lactic acidiosis but its incidence is rare with that dose no need of worrying in this matter she can continue life time metformin.
