On July 16, 2010, I went in for an abortion at 8 weeks of pregnancy. Immediately post-procedure, the doctor informed my boyfriend that I was going to miscarry/was in the process of a miscarriage. I took a post-op follow up pregnancy test at 6 weeks post-procedure and it came back positive. I contact my original abortion provider and told the staff that it was still positive. I have since had 3 blood tests confirming that hcg was still in my system and they came back at 200, 116, and lastly, 36 quantitative showing on September 28, 2010. I am very concerned that something is going on with my body. I realize that the quantity is going down, but I am concerned. I am planning to travel 200 miles back to the original doctor for a follow-up ultrasound but I am not sure if it is worth it. The office seemed concerned at first, but are now discouraging me from coming in. My main concern is my health and fertility, and not about the drive to the original doctor. I just want someone who can tell me everything is okay. They have told me that this isn't exactly normal for it to take this long to return to normal. I had minimal bleeding post-procedure. I was previously on birth control for approximately 10 years. I stopped taking it after the procedure to give my body a break. Can someone tell me if this is worth getting a follow-up ultrasound?
