How Long Does It Take To Recover If Both Ovaries, Tubes Uteris And The Rest Of The Cervix Removed?
How long will the recovery take. I had both ovaries, tubes uteris and the rest of the cervix removed on Tuesday at Sunnybrooke Toronto. I was sent home Friday and have had a lot pain. I understand the operation was two fold both stomach and vaginal. What can I expect I don t seem to have any info on it. Thanks
Hysterectomy is a major surgery and is associated with some amount of pain. The pain decreases after 48-72 hours and is very minimal at the end of 7 days. Some women continue to experience mild dull pain for a few days to 3 months due to tissue reaction to sutures and the inflammation and healing after surgery.
You may be able to conduct your personal care activities by day 4-5 and resume household activities after 15-20 days depending upon the type of surgery and surgical difficulty level. Avoid lifting heavy objects for 2-3 months as it may increase the chance of a prolapse of the surgical site.
Eat a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables along with proteins [ egg white and meat products in moderate amounts] to help in quicker recovery.
Hope this helped. Thanks for the query and get well soon. I am here for any further queries. Dr Madhuri Bagde Consultant Ob Gyn
