How Long Will My Father Survive With Dry Gangrene In His Foot?

my dad has dry gangrene in his foot however it is weeping alot amputation is not a option as he is 91 we thought we were going to loose him 2 weeks ago however he seems fine at the moment and is eating and drinking normally he also has alzeimers how long do you think he could last?

Hi thanks for contacting HCM,

Actually we could not say exact that how long your father will survive as he is 91 yrs old and it is depend on immunity how could it fight with infection. I think a part of body which involved in dry gangrene is split off from the living part of body and thus it stop and not progressed further so your father will survive further with no immediately risk of death. If wet gangrene occured instead of dry then it is more dangerous as wet gangrene progressed very rapidly and leads to death.
