How Long Will The Swallowed Coin Stay In Intestine?
My 22 month old child swallowed a penny 2 weeks ago, last Tuesday it showed no progress ( still in stomach), with days of progressive spitting up. She was scheduled for an endoscopy last Friday to remove the coin from her stomach. Just before the procedure, she had an x-ray that showed the coin had advanced to the small intestine. The dr said it should be out in a day or two. It is now Thursday and still no penny. My daughter is having 3-4 bowel movements a day ( more than her norm) and still there is no penny. How long is is possible for the penny to stay in her intestine?

How Long Will The Swallowed Coin Stay In Intestine?
Hello, If the size of a penny is too big, then it may cause the problem in the certain position of small intestine else it comes out later or sooner. But for confirmation, you have to keep the case under observation, and plain x-ray abdomen or screening test is best. It is nothing to worry, in most of the cases, it comes out even in a certain case, big penny also comes out. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
