How Many Minutes Before Meal Should Huminsulin-regular Be Taken?

hi
how many minutes before meal should huminsulin-regular be taken?
and after the injection of the same, how does it work? I mean if the peak action is within 2-3 hours after injection, what about after the three hours? Eg. If after three hours the sugar levels are around 95, what will it be after 6 hours?
Thanks.

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

Regular insulin has an onset of action of 20 to 30 minutes and should therefore be taken 20 to 30 minutes prior to a meal. The peak is in 2 to 4 hours and it lasts 5 to 8 hours totally.

At 6 hours the amount of regular insulin would be declining or in some cases already gone (it lasts only 5 to 8 hours).
You may have used another meal or snack in the 6 hours from the other dose and this meal would have an impact on your blood sugar.

Unfortunately it would not be possible to predict your exact blood sugar reading.

I hope this helps
