Hello and welcome to HCM,
When ever there is exposure to animal infected with rabies, complete rabies
vaccination needs to be taken.
The basic things which have to be kept in mind are:
1. Bites, scratches, licks on damaged skin or licks on mucosal surface by a stray animal has to be treated like a rabies infection- entire course of
rabies vaccine has to be given.
2. Bites, scratches, lickes on damaged skin or mucosal membranes by domestic vaccinated animals should be treated with
tetanus toxoid.
In any case, the contact area should be thoroughly washed with soap and water profusely for 10-15 minutes.
You have mentioned that the stray dog touched your right hand.
mere touching will not transmit the infection.
However, if there is scratch with bleeding then you need to consider vaccination with rabies vaccine.
Thanks and take care
