Hi my mum has been diagonised with colon cancer..This was after noticing that she had a growth after am MRI scan. Can MRI scan show extent of spread?Surgeon did operate on her and says it has spread to nearby lymph nodes creating a hard mass, which was not removed. What would be the best course of action
Hi treatment of colon cancer depends on stage of the disease. If it is restricted to colon and nearby lymph nodes then surgery followed by adjuvant chemotherapy can be given but if it has spread to distant areas such as lung and liver then palliative chemotherapy to improve quality of life is the only option.
