Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Safe Is Taking Digoxin,Metoprolol, prednisone Or Eliquis For COPD?
my husband is having problems urinating. he has started taken new medicines and i was wondering if they effect each other. his blood pressure is very low. he has copd. the medicines are digoxin, metoprolol, prednisone, eliquis. his blood pressure has been between 85/42 and 120/70. he feels very weak when the blood pressure goes under 130/70. i need to know which of these medicines effects the blood pressure to go so low. thank you for your help.
Thank you for the question! Regarding your concern it seems that your husband is suffering from what is called a low cardiac output state (or heart failure) probably associated with arrhythmia (atrial fibrillation) based on anticoagulant prescription from the doctor. So the blood pressure maintenance is of utmost importance for him being active and having a good urine output. The only medication that could be down titrated (lowered) is metoprolol, but this should be done only after doctor consulting; only the cardiologist could give an appropriate new treatment scheme for your husband based of cardiac function state. Hope me recommendation will be of help. Dr. Iliri
