How To Ascertain That I Have STD?

Hi, I have a Bartholin Cyst which I have had for a long time. My specialist has drained it twice and marsupialised it. It has been ok for many months but a couple of days ago it has got infected and I am running a temp. The problem is I am worried about STI as I slept with someone a couple of weeks ago (unprotected) and have had one initial set of tests that came back clear. I have follow up tests due in May. Will those show the STI if any caused the cyst?

Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Bartholin's cyst is different from Bartholin's abcess. Abscess is due to infection and painful whereas the cyst indicates a retention and not painful.
Bartholoin's abscess would be most likely to be due to STD causes.
But if marsupilisation done effectively then it should not have recurred at the same side.
As you had unprotected exposure before 2 weeks it is better to repeat the test for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia once again and rule out these possibilities.
