How To Control Blood Sugar Level?

hi doctor, my mum (69 years old) is diabetic since more than 15 years. she was on diamicron and glucophage, she loosed control on glucose level. She started to take mixtard 30 ( 15 units) at the morning only with glucophage 1000 twice daily. She has passed open heart surgery since two years and now is taking ( chromium 1*2- concor 5mg1*1- ator 40mg 1*1- galvus met50/1000 1*2- aldactone 100 (twice weely). She has osteoporosis and take (calmag1*2+ miacaclcic nasal spray 3 times weekly+ onealpha 1microgram once daily)
The problem now is that she gained weight from 80Kg to 98 Kg and she is 160 cm
i asked you is the combination between galvus and mixtard is the reason of weight gain??
how to control blood glucose ???

dear sir I understand your concern.the reson for weight gain is using of insulin but there is no other go because with out insulin it's difficult to maintain her sugars. may be you can change insulin from mix to Lantus.which will have little less weight gain and advise her to follow diet and exercise.kindly let me know the hba1c results I will be very happy to assist you I am a Diabetologist......regards
