How To Control Urinary Microalbuminurea Levels And Stop Insulin Use?

Hello Doctor , My husband is 47 now and had been a non insulin dependent diabetic since he was 28 . Right now his urinary microalbuminurea level is 118mgdl and is advised to take insulin , 10units in the morning and 8 units at night . How can i bring this under control and bring him out of insulin ?

Microalbuminuria can be managed effectively by keeping sugars under good control, reducing salt, Controlling Blood pressure. insulin is a good option for the time being which will help to control blood sugars in view of the long duration of diabetes. Tablets like telmisartan will help reduce microalbuminuria. if blood sugars are maintained well you can slowly wean off insulin with the help of your diabetologist.
