Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
In an year old child, dry itchy scalp could be due to seborrheic dermatitis or atopic dermatitis. Both are types of eczema.
Scalp folliculitis is characterised by red painful pus filled bumps and that seems unlikely in your child( as you have just mentioned dry itchy scalp)

To treat dry itchy scalp, use cetrilac scalp wash every alternate days. Apply it over scalp for five to ten minutes then wash off. Also apply steroid lotion like fluticasone lotion( flutivate E) twice in a day. If itching is severe, give cetrizine syrup half teaspoon once in a day.
Once scalp is clear, just continue with scalp wash and discontinue steroid lotion and cetirizine.
Cetrilac scalp wash would help in scalp folliculitis too.
Hope this helped.
Take care
