OBGYN 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM,
I am Dr Nilajkumar a consultant gynecologist and I will be helping you in your queries.
I understand the issue. Please do not be scared.

This is a condition called dysfunctional uterine bleeding where there is heavy bleeding and no apparent cause is found. It is thought to be due to estrogen excess.

If the bleeding was controlled by regesterone then take it again for 21 days without missing even one day. Wait for 7 days or till day 5 of periods [whichever is earlier] and restart it. Continue this for 3 months and then see the response. This drug must be taken after prescription by your doctor so discuss it with him and then begin. If the bleeding still recurs then she may need an endometrial ablation therapy or a hysterectomy.
This is not an uncommon issue and many women do respond to a 3 months course of progesterone. Also weight loss, exercise and proper diet are important as they help in restoring the hormonal mileu. Also get testing for thyroid as it is a common cause of bleeding.

Hope this was helpful.
Feel free to ask any further queries and I will be happy to help.
Thanks for using HCM.
Have a good day.
