How To Stop Paraoesophegal Hiatus Hernia From Getting Worse ?
Hi, how do I stop a paraoesophegal hiataus hernia from getting worse. It is 4cm at the moment, but last year I was diagnosed with a small hernia and tiny tear. It gives me lots of trouble. I have done all the recommended lifestyle changes including losing about 5 stone which fell off me last year as I was so poorly with it.
Dear rosalin, paraoesophageal hernia is a chronic disorder which will not be cured spontaneusly. It can be very serious if stomach gets incarcerated and chances for it are higher if hernia is bigger. So this kind and size of hernia wont be cured by lifestyle changes or medications unfortunately, you can only make your symptoms easier. So the best thing to do is a surgery procedure which is called Nissen fundoplication where stomach is fixated around oesophagus, it is simple and routine procedure so you should consult your doctor about it.
Wish you good health, dr. med. Ivan Romich (Rominho)
