How To Tell Whether A Person Is A Sociopath? How Are The Symptoms Different From Schizophrenia?
our daughter s husband has something wrong with him. Weare trying to compare sociopathic signs & symptoms with schizophrenia . We know sociopaths are master con men etc so he could fake a lot of things. Also he has no family contact so we don t know what is lies /truth. He says he was in navy -CIA-& has PTSD. How can we tell?

Sociopath persons have antisocial personality. Due to that couple frequently had adjustment problem in their marital relationship. To diagnose personality problem personality assessment is needed.
You can advise your daughter to seek marital counseling. During counseling you can request therapist to look for psychiatric illness or personality problem in him.

Thanks for your query. Sociopaths suffer from dissocial personality disorder which is usually adolescent in onset and the symptoms persist throughout the life span. Such people are manipulative, opportunistic and cunning. Schizophrenics lack insight into the illness i.e lack awareness of the truth/false and what they are doing. An in-patient ward observation or serial OPD follow visits will clinch the diagnosis. Hope you found the information useful.
